My First Canvas Painting

I created my first painting on canvas and I'm so happy I tried it! This was definitely outside my comfort zone but quite a fun and rewarding experience.


I really enjoyed working on a larger piece after the usual small sketchbooks. The scale changed my approach to the painting, I started noticing paint strokes and their movement inside shapes, which is so exciting to explore.


However, I also realised that I would rather paint on paper instead of canvas. I find its texture too rough and I prefer medium to no-grain papers.



This experience brings me to the idea that I should do larger pieces more often. It excites me to think about how I could experiment with different formats and how this completely can change the feeling of a final piece.
